I've seen the hate for Heim joints on here before and get it a little but not completely.
What is the experience with heim failures over TRE's? I've had a TRE shear on the trail that screwed me big time.
I run a single shear Heim on my track bar that I have beat the shit out of but it still holds true on the road and (according to the interweb ;)) has apparently been thoroughly tested in some tougher places. Admittedly, I inspect it a lot but it works well.
I ran heims on my lower control arms for a while in double shear and they were bulletproof. The KOH guys run heims half the size of mine through hell and back in the races with no problems. I've also seen them run for years on construction equipment without failure.
To the ones that had failures....
What failed? Who made them? How were they used?
