DMV Advice

  • I got nailed for my side markers on my flat flares being nonreflective.. sticky reflectors from Walmart for a couple bucks and I'm good. If you go thru the NHTSA rules, there's no stipulation to have reverse lights. They do spell out the size and locale requirements for all the rest though.

  • Reflective tape/reflectors would not suffice either I was told. Can anyone verify this? I just need to get past Biff next time and i'll be solid for another 2 years of legality on the road. Any thoughts or tips on how you guys with tube fenders and led lights get by...
    Thanks

I used the red portion of a standard "DOT tape" for the rear reflectors on my trailer. Actually, I think I cut the red section in half, roughly 2x5" on either side of the trailer. That totally meets the reflectivity requirements (they're on EVERY commercial trailer in the country), but it's only in red or silver.

I used these for the forward side reflectors... http://www.easternmarine.com/a…lector-self-adhesive-3357
and these for the rear sdes... http://www.easternmarine.com/r…lector-self-adhesive-3358 I could have used the tape, but I wanted them to match. :)
