front driveshaft rebuild

  • so after my last wheeling trip i decided well more like had to
rebuild the frontdriveshaft on the rubi
as i understand it from other post i have read
the part #'s for the front d/s in a rubi are different that
    say a sport or sahara
tho i did not verify this

so here are the #'s for neapco u-joints
since NOONE down here carries spicer joints

    diff end . one needed . 2-1569
    c v section . 2 needed . 2-4800
    centering kit . 1 needed . 7-0079

    found some new #'s
    these are on the left
precison .... on the right ....spicer
    same order as above
    355 .......... 5-212x
    354 .......... 5-1203x
    608 ........... 5-212x
the front axle stub shaft is
    371 .......... 5-1203x

as i stated these #'s will not work for a standard tj
if u need those #'s check out stu olsen's site for them
he has a great write up aswell

the disassembly was pretty straight foward
u will have to heat up the diff end with a set of torches
tho any heat source would work propane or butane just may take longer
this is done b/c the factory uses blown molded injection plastic to hold the u-joint in place
it needs to be melted in order to remove the u- joint

easiest way to do this is with a driveshaft c-clamp
tho i guess u can do it with a hammer and socket
    press out old ones
clean the bores out with emory cloth
    press in the new ones
once assembled dont forget to grease
itll be easier when not installed

    edited with new part #'s
here is a link to stu write up
