My plan as of right now is to pull the engine, transmission, transfer case and wiring harness out of the 2003 Silverado I bought to use as the donor for my YJ. I'm still on the fence as to if I'll rebuild the engine before I install it or just get it in and running and look for another engine and rebuild it at a later date.

I think I saw a JL today on RT 1 when I was heading towards Oxford this morning that ugly marker light in the flare is hard to miss

Not. AMC was in business but didn't own Jeep until mid 1970. Thats Commando is a Kaiser
Damn you're right John! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep#Ownership_chronology

Now that is cool! Can't wait to see it come together. I guess that's a Kaiser-Willys? The commandos have been gaining popularity in recent years and the pricing is going up with it. They are still small enough to be pretty nimble but there's a bit more space in there than most other old jeeps.
Can't wait to see it on the trails! HahaAmerican Motors was founded may 1st 1954 and ended in 1988 so it's all AMC.

Luke's Commando does have a full frame under it. it's just hard to see the way it up under the body.

The RCQ at Rausch a few years(5?) was a blast I'll be at AOAA for sure.

I looked into building a stroker but read a few to many horror stories as well. I know at one point Titan had a lot of issues and so did Golden not sure if they fixed the issue but Hesco seem to build a good stroker just big $$$. I agree with Aaron the 4.0L was never meant to be high horsepower engine. Mopar performance at one point offered a crate stroker maybe look into that. http://www.moparproshop.com/jeep_stroker_engines or this one http://www.moparproshop.com/inc/sdetail/10721/10729 I still think you can't beat a GM LS swap but that's my opinion.

I used Nelson Painting in Nottingham to do the frame on my Jeep and a few other things. https://www.facebook.com/Nelso…ting-Inc-986656388041098/

SLOPAR parts of your old YJ are still alive on my Jeep well I think I'm just down to the MORE steering box brace, gas tank skid was a little rotted to go on my rebuild.
-
Well after about a 6 month rebuild I've been driving it! I've put about 250-300 miles without any major problems.

Interested in the 8274 if Captain II doesn't want it.
