Adjusting timing

  • I've been putting off doing the nutter bypass untill I had everything to do the TFI upgrade at the same time since I would have to adjust the timing. I dont have a timing light, and wouldnt know exactly how to use one if I did. Does anyone around the Dover/Magnolia area have one, or would like to help with the bypass?

  • You can also adjust the timing with a vacuum meter. With the Jeep at the currect idle rpm and with the vacuum advance blocked off, turn the distributor until you get the highest vacuum reading. Then adjust the mixture screws and idle adjustment until the vacuum is at the highest reading.

There is also a way of setting the timing using a multi-meter hooked up to the oxygen sensor...but I didn't read that too carefully since I don't have one of those. ;D
