Temp gauge for gear oil

  • I just put in a D18 and with the screaming it does at highway speed (need to upgrade my stereo now) I was thinking that a temperature gauge might not be a bad idea. Will a standard mechanical temp gauge used for the engine also work for the transfer case? I'm questioning if I need something special because gear oil is a "little" thicker than water and wasn't sure if there is a calibration issue.
