Which 4" CJ Lift???

  • Ok, as projects usually go, they grow a bit and I have concluded a 4" lift is in order to stay SUA and roll the 35's. I was looking at RE but they look a little pricy ($900) Any thoughts or recommendations? Especially what to stay away from.

  • i have a BDS 4" lift on my cj and it seems pretty good its a little stiff but the springs are guaranteed for life

  • I just put a 4" Superlift on. Very stiff. So stiff there is no difference with the swaybar disconnected (I never reconnected it after I put the lift on). Also I don't think I got 4 inches out of it. Can't say for sure since I forgot to measure till I already did the front springs. Doh.

Loki, has the RE 4.5" and it is nice and you definitely get 4" of lift and it is smooth ride which is important b/c Loki is delicate. :)

  • The best bang for the buck seems to be Rough Country/ Heckthorn. They have been around forever and stand behind their products. I'm using their rear springs and shackle reversal. CJ lift kit runs around $400.

  • When comparing prices, be sure to take into consideration the completion of the kit. You can get nickeled and dimed with all the little things you will need that some kits don't have.

  • BDS 4 inch YJ springs... best ride. Need longer shackles up front, or a relocated front spring mount, but ride 10x better than CJ springs... the front is longer and wider.

  • The RE kit is a little higher, from Bob Supply its $810 delivered with no shocks. You get everything else though, all you need after is shocks. I changed my driveshaft to a Tom Woods CV long travel to keep my tcase up stock and to keep my aftermarket valve cover off the firewall. I put Skyjacker shocks on but want to switch, all greaseable hardware, brakelines and it converts the front to wider springs. I have 34x9.50 on the factory rims and have pently of room, putting 35" boggers on next week but will add a 2" BL later. I recomend it because its so complete, other kits will cost you more in the long run if you want what comes in the RE kit. Depends on what you want to do.
