i have always loved the 5 sp or manual transmissions. but recently on a woodsy expedition i smoked the clutch pretty bad, for the first time in my life. this happen a lot?? maybe i am missing something in the operation of a clutch while offroad... i dunno. so my thoughts are definately leaning toward an auto on my next purchase. any input or thoughts?? tyia

i used to love manuals for wheelin and thought autos were best left in cars.
but after wheelin a couple autos that were built well, i would go auto over manual everyday. -
Had both, wheeled both on greens and blues and GWNF, like both. Wouldn't care either way.
So... all things being equal, as a DD, I love the auto.

I think the crawl ratio on your transfer case makes a big difference too. That is why I am converting mine over to a 4:1 (stock on a Rubi) although it seems the torque slip of the auto is still preferred by most people.
