What did u have to do to get it through inspection?
-
What did u have to do to get it through inspection?I called DMV a year ago to ask this question. I was told that when u go through inspection u need to tell them u installed a diesel. They would put it in the system and u woukd never have emissions test again...
-
The wireing was simple hook up the ground, hook up the starter and wire up the glow plug realay to the ignition also hooked the vacuum shutoff switch to celaniod for the fuel shut off alb removed the cumputer and cut out all the injector wireing amd sensos I didnt need
-
so do i need to do some diesel study? is this diesel electronic or not on fuel injection? you ripped which computer out? jeep or mercedes?
im in eastern shore MD, so inspection is nothing to worry about,
-
you keep your stock YJ fuel pump? 45psi is ok for this turbo diesel?
-
No the diesel is 100% mechanical I pulled out the jeeps computer, yoh have to remove the fuel pump the diesel fuel wil make it go bad and the diesel motor has a mechanical fuel pump on the motor
-
wow, i need to study this motor. i really really love the idea of this conversion. hard to find data on diesels, found FSM on ebay for 18 bucks.
what about the 3 fuel lines, supply, return, and vent? have to redo that?
-
My yj only has 2 lines and so does the om617 suply amd return
-
did you do any power mods to the OM617?
-
So far I have just done a valv ajustment and turned the alda up and it move my 35s pretty good, im going to put some miles n it how it is so I can gage mpg with my set up, im running the stock amount of 9psi boost and im going to turn it up to 12 beyond that the injection pump cant put out more fuel with out a lot of modds
-
Nice, im looking to put one in my tj
-
Its a good motor for decent power and good fuel economy you can get a good amount of power out of them but it can get expensive if you want a lot, if you just want power than a cummins is the swap you need this is alote cheaper and feasible in my eyes
-
What did u have to do for inspection
-
In pa your saposed to change the title but I just said its diesel and they skipped the emissions
-
How's the acceleration?
-
With 35s and 4.10 its not to bad could be alittle beter 4.56 would be more suited for the 35s but its very liveable
-
Is it better than with the stock motor ( I'm guessing u had a 6 cyl)
-
Yes I had a 6 off the line was better, but once the turbo spools up the thing takes off, driving with a turbo disel is alittle differant than with a gas motor
-
Also my full size bronco axle swap and on a differant set of tires now lol im back on some 35s with them and the 5.40 gears this jeep really gets out of its own way its peppy a hell and xan gain speed up a fairly steep incline cant wait to test it out wheeling
