yj fender removal

  • Was wondering if anyone has any idea or if there is a write up on how to remove fenders. Mine are completely rusted out after further inspection.... I think the paint is the only thing holding them together. I was going to go fiberglass but from advice and articles they weren't what I was looking for. Good news is I'm getting ready to install bushwhacker cut outs after I figure out how to get these damn things off.

Anytime you take your 20+ year old jeep apart plan on fixing more them you intended.

  • Should come right off by removing the firewall bolts and grill bolts. They may be rusted up so you may want to hit them with oxy/acetylene or oxy/mapp gas heat to get them cherry red and break the rust. I've had better luck with heat then I have with penetrating oil.

An impact gun works well too but may be hard to get up in the firewall.
