I have heard these things are a bit rattly when they are in good shape but I have one now that sounds pretty bad to me. Someone told me probably just timing gears is that a common thing? new to the 4cyl had a few with 4.2 s in them

mine rattles when I disengage the clutch, think it was a u-bolt loose, rattling with no torque on the drive shaft?

Rattles at idle just gets worse as it is revved up. rattles while driving as well. sounds like engine noise for sure

Heat shield to the catalytic converter is breaking loose.

Sometimes if exhaust is a bit tweaked, it can vibrate on the skid plate.

the 4 banger was ad about cracking the exhaust manifold
you shoyl chech that
if it sounds like a metalcan full of rock i'd say cabilic converter.
yj's were known fo that -
i had an auto tranny
and once found the tourk converter polts had loosened up
made a bad rattle but yours is a manual transmission. -
Ditto on the cracked manifold, I had to put two on mine and they still all cracked. It's a known issue
