784 injectors

  • I have a spare tire for sale. I have an interested buyer who has offered to trade for a set of rebuilt 784 injectors.

I've done some research, and it seems like it would be a very good upgrade.

    Advice? Comments? Opinions?

  • No one knows anything about these?

I've already traded a 35" tire for them. Now I need to decide which XJ gets them.

I've been doing a little research, and have not found a definitive answer as to whether the greatest benefit of the injector upgrade is improved gas mileage or horsepower. If it's fuel economy, then they should go on my daily driver, because I don't see a need to increase horsepower. Conversely, if it's horsepower, then they should go on my trail rig, as fuel economy is of no concern.

  • No experience but I did google it. Lol

One guy claimed .5 MPG and 5 HP gain.

I'm not really sure how you could accurately quantify either without a Dyno and exhaustive MPG tracking.

Sounds like only real difference over stock is a 4 hole spray pattern that leads to better atomization.

    So, that's all I got. :)

  • The comanche guys swear by this mod, but theyre
definately wishy-washy about which injector mod is
"best." One of those things though - if you get them
cheap enough its not a major undertaking so...

  • Zero experience, just thinking... if the injectors have the same flow rates with a better spray pattern, that would result in both better horsepower in addition to better mileage as the fuel is being used more efficiently.

Had a quick break at work and got to look up some numbers. It appears that these have a higher flow rate than stock, which means more fuel... more HP but lower economy. But, the spray pattern is the best benefit, that combined with nice clean spark plugs and it should have a nice throttle response.

    So trail rig gets them.
