Rear tow hook ?

  • I have a 91 YJ with the bumperettes on the rear and I got a pair of tow hooks to be able to go on the trails. I started looking at the frame in the back and can't really see that there is any spot to put them. Or, atleast any holes that are pre drilled.

Is there a good place to put the tow hooks on the rear frame somewhere? And are there any pre drilled holes that they will fit in or do I need to go find a bit to fit the bolts?

  • I doubt you will find predrilled holes for the tow hooks since they will need at least 2 holes each. I've seen them mounted to the side of the frame immediately behind the rear bumper. Or, you can get a 2" reciever hitch mounted to the back and use a ball mount with a D-ring in through the hole (in place of the ball).

  • Newbie Note: Never use a ttrailer ball as a tow/winch point. Unless you want to see how much dammage a 16 oz steel ball can do at 300mph.

Steve (does not have balls of steel)

Do you already have them up front? As for mounting on the rear frame, check with BBD, I'm pretty sure he mounted one to the rear frame on his yj.
