Where did you take it? Christiana Auto does decent work and they are honest.
They machined my motor, crank, and head when I rebuilt my motor. A few years later I blew a piston going to a meeting. When I took it into them to press a new piston on they asked me to bring the head back to check it out. They then re-decked it and cleaned it up for FREE!
I must be the only CJ person they have going in because they know me as the guy with the Jeep.

John, I take it to American Auto Machine Shop that Aaron mentioned to me. They are right next to Route 141 and 4; I think the name of the street is Ayre (sp?). They arre good folks, and very pleasant to deal with.

It started out with an engine code. Number 3 cylinder miss fired. The Cherokee was running poorly. StealthTJ often mentioned that it is often not related to ignition problem. I did a pressure check. It turned out the all cylinder has normal reading except no 3 which only showed 65-75 psi. Upon adding some engine oil to the cylinder, no improvement in compression reading was observed. We took the head off,
Upon close examination, the head gasket is blown. It is interesting to note that there was not external symptom of blow head gasket.
We power washed the engine.
We then blew dry the engine block and rinse with 100% methanol
All clean. I oiled the surface with light engine oil to prevent rust.
I covered the engine block with old undies
:D, and send the head off for rebuilding. Rebuilding the head is relatively cheap . $175 including hot tank, value job, new valve stem seals, and resurfacing.
