new paint job

  • i still have to put another coat on. It took me 3 small cans of duraliner and two cheap brushes and about 6hours. Best part is it actually sealed up a leak i had for years on the pass side.

  • Cool. I have Tough Stuff rocker guard vinyl under my steps right now, but I can tell it won't last. I was thinking about doing this to my JK where the body turns under. Did you scuff the paint first?

  • those are some giant rain guards

  • to be honest with you i think i like the faded look. You can tell where i did some touch up and where it was been in the sun for a bit. But thanks for the info on the UV stuff i just might look into that. I am planning on ordering rock rails from aj armor when i get a chance and i am going to coat them too. I might try the UV stuff on them to see if i like it before i coat the jeep. Thanks again.

I did scratch the surface of the paint with a scuff pad (cant remember what grit it was) and it seems to have stuck pretty good. I tried picking at it this weekend to see if it would flake off, but nothing came off. This stuff is just awesome with durability. I also coated the entire floor(inside) and did used the same process and that is holding up well too. I will post some pics of that tonight.

Those rain guards have saved me from some serious mud splashes in the past. DMV seems to not like them at all, but i just take them off and get some new 3m tape and they go right back on. Jcwhitney and Pepboys sell them.

  • looks good, I was going to do the same thing back in the winter when I was advise not to due to the fading. Let me know how it holds up. I kinda like the fade look to. Gives you that flat look. However, I was going to go with a yellow or red color, which is much harder and not as nice at the end. Good luck.
