Not really drama.
I enjoy fishing, and am in total awe of these magnificent creatures.
But I also know that this is an open forum and pretty much anything posted here is a direct reflection of the Club and it's Members.
It's obvious from the pictures posted in the above article that that shark was no where near the "wave wash" for the time it was out of the water.
It's also quite clear it was bone dry by the time it was returned to the water.
The rules are very clear.
Protected/prohibited species are not to be removed from the water.
"It shall be unlawful for any hook and line fisherman to remove from the water sandbar shark, or any other species of shark when prohibited from harvest under §3541."
What's not so clear is what part of that these guys don't understand.

its guys like these that are hurting the sport and they are the reason why delaware has cracked down on the shark fishing laws..
that shark was up too high on the beach, id like to know who the punks are, and the reason why they published it to the dam* news journal to boot.
heres what the true land based sharkfishermen do when they land a shark/release/photo op/etc.
the prize catch.. 11'10" Tiger Shark
are the sharks super dangerous after a long fight and their worn out/exhausted? Not one bit, these guys released this 11ft hammerhead and walked with it in the water..
edit: and girls...note his hand is right on the nose of that hammerhead

Won't be hard to find him. LOL
The comment thread on the article is pretty entertaining in itself.

Jamie, is that you that joined the article's comment fray last night?

Jamie, is that you that joined the article's comment fray last night?I was just wondering the same thing!

I don't see why F&W doesn't go after these guys as these morons have provided their own photographic evidence showing them clearly not following law.
-
-
According to the comments they have been notified.

Funny how all the comments in the original post have disappeared.
Sad part is, he probably got a $25 fine.
-
And I'll certainly give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't aware of the new rules.
If he was aware and still sent the pics to the newspaper, then he's just an idiot.
And this was the reason I posted the other thread with the regs to help make sure everyone that enjoys this sport does understand that the rules have changed.
I was not singling out any one person on this forum, but by his own photographic evidence there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this shark is "out of the water".
In fact the surf looks to be 20-30 yards from the shark in this picture.

New News Journal aritcal. Looks like his fines were $269
-
my friend actually works with the kid and said it did not go down like the article says but he was taken to court for it. and as stated above fined.
-
Looks like the shark got a lil payback!
Way to go DNREC / F&W!!
Also as an FYI... I keep these numbers in my cell phone and for anyone who is an avid hunter/fisher should use them to report any violations.
Fishing Violations: 1-800-523-3336 -
Fail. My typo-itis strikes again...
The other number is:
Operation Game Theft: (302) 739-4580 or (800) 292-3030 -

So how did it go down? -
So how did it go down?X2.
The picture of the half dead shark laying on it's side says it all.
