dana 35 rebuild

  • well here's the latest update. when the differental was pulled three teeth were broken on the ring gear. the rearend spec. said the cause was it was not rebuilt correctly. the wear marks on the pinion and ring gear shows the position was out of alingment. the spacing between ring and pinion was also done wrong.
apparently to gauge out a dana 35 you must have the dana tools and gauges to set it up correctly.

  • you dont need anything special to set up a d35 that you dont need for any other rear. it just sounds like it wasnt put together with the correct tools. at a minimum you need a case spreader and dial indicator for measuring backlash. you can paint the for the pattern and adjust but i use a set up tool that gives me a perfect measurement for pinion shims every time.
