just a quick question. after i came out of walmart last night i hopped into my jeep and started it up wih no problem, the second i turned the lights on and my kcs on the front bumper it shut off on me. i tried to start it and if it did start i would shut right back off. so i was towedhome home and we sprayed starting fluid into the intake and it would run. so my guess was a fuel pump because i also didnt here the pump kicking in, so after i replaced my pump i turned the key to the on position i still didnt here it so i checked fuses and my ios fuse was blown and a fuse up in the top right hand corner of the under dash fuse box. didnt have a label on it, well i started the jeep and it ran , once i cleaned everything up i went to back it out of the gaageit ran for about 10 seconds and sputtered out but now it seems fine. i did check codes i got a coolant temp sensor code. map sensor code. and thats it any ideas on what the hell happened? should i be able to here the pump hum for the 5 seconds before starting?
FUELPUMP PROBLEM

I can hear mine (in-tank pump). Get a fuel pressure gauge and hook it up to see what kind of pressure you're getting.
You said it happened as soon as you put on your KCs. I'm wondering if that was a coincidence or are they drawing a lot of power for some reason.

same thing im wondering

Check the main fusebox under the hood. I had the same issue with my stereo a everytime I turned it on I would be fine for wbout 10 minutes and it would shutoff. Theres a fuse for the fusebox underneath neath your dash should be a 40 amp.

Check the ground connection for the pump. I replaced 2 pumps in a 42 galan suburban before I figured that out. Plus with all the salt and all.

Shut the KC's off and try running it.

Have you changed your fuel filter? If it's clogged the pump won't know whether it's priming the line just to the fuel filter or all the way to the intake. Also it may just be water in the gas. Had that happen on the way home once. By the time I got in my driveway it felt like I was only running on 2 cylinders. Let it sit for a bit and put some dry gas in and it has run fine ever since.

well i dont belive it was the fuel pump because i changed it and i tested it at workand it pumped fine. i thibk it was one of the fuses in the jeep. sadly i had already changeed it. just my luck

A bad fuel pump will still pump a little it just won't pump at enough pressure to keep the motor running.

no kidding.well that makes me feel a little better since itwas a100 dollar pump
