Anyone ever had their fuel tank just randomly rupture? The shady thing is that there is no damage to the skid plate and it just all of a sudden started leaking while it was parked. I know it's old but what the crap!

they do tend to rust from the inside out...

That's why I replaced mine years ago. It happens.

It's a poly tank, no damage to the skid under it and can't see how it ruptured. Bad thing is I sold a poly tank last year so now I need to source another. I'm not sure that I can patch it from the inside or not. I let it drain last night and used an epoxy putty one of the neighbors had. It didn't completely seal so I cut up one of the kids flip flops and wedged 3ayers in between it and the skid. Has held all day w/o any leaks so I'm hoping it'll get me home.

With the tank out, drill the hole out , and install a petcock through it.

Well, the McGuyver patch job has held up so far. As a matter of fact, it has not leaked a drop since. I'm hoping that it will last until the end of the week as I am working mad OT this week due to another officer being on vacation and having to cover for her.
