Trans Rattling (new info)

    Does anyone think that a bad/wrong/broken pilot bushing would cause a trans to have internal problems? ie. rattling

    yes it can .

    85 cj7 4" suspension 1" body lift on 33X13.50 swampers , Ford 9" / arb , t18 trans , dana 300 t case , and a efi 5.0 from a 93 gt . ( soon to have dana 44 and arb in the front )

    The pilot bushing keeps the input shaft in place .

    There are a lot of other things that can be rattling. A loose heat sheild on the catalytic converter for instance. Also, the dust shields on the pinion yokes may rattle. Mine do.

    Yeah but I took it to World Transmission and they said it was something internal and since its under a warranty its being sent out to OK City. Just trying to figure out what might have happened.

    Just heard from the trans shop in OK City where I bought my NV3550. The guy said that the face of a tooth on the cluster gear had been grinded on. :shrug: not sure why you would do that but I am getting another new transmission :) Hope to be back on the road by next weekend
