Spare Tire Carrier

  • Will I have any issues putting a 30x9.5 on a stock spare tire carrier?

  • I had a 31X10.5 on my stock TJ carrier with no problems for close to 2 years, and I currently have 33x12.5's on the stock carrier since June, and they've been fine.

Someday, someday, I'll get a new rear bumper and tire carrier!

  • I have a 31" and a steel wheel on my KJ, no problem, and I'm watching it closely (I was worried too). This is even after wheeling with it on there. I wouldn't worry, though it has occurred to me to take it off and throw it in the back while off-road, just to save the torquing on the door.

Not likely, but I appreciate the effort John! :wavey:

  • I have 31 x 10 tires on Gambler wheels.the nuts that hold the spare in place where a smidget to short so I had to cut down the 4 rubber things on my rear swing door to make the tire fit.
