Those of you have done this swap, did you have to get the drive shaft shortened? did you have to go with an SYE? Jims has a standard tcase shaft. When I put the drive shaft in it only has about 1/4 to 3/8" end play. In other words the shaft can only collapse that far. I know is the suspension compresses the axle actually move away from the tcase but I was wonder if this is enough or does it need to be shortened?? thanks
8.8 install ?

I did the wswap but already had an sye and I shortened an xj front shaft then used it in the rearthis was in a yj
if your in dover there is a shop in camden that can shorten it there is a place up state too but I don'know where it is -
Same as Joe - we had an SYE and CV shaft in Erica's Jeep before the 8.8 install.

Yeah. I know that with leaf springs this would not be good because they do flex forward and back. with the control arms I am not sure. It worries me some.

If there's too little of play and he hits a good bounce - either the stock driveshaft goes or the transfer case output shaft goes since the axle doesn't follow a perfect arc pivoting from the slip yoke. Ask Kevin about it....made for a long day on the strap.

is moving the axle back an inch an option? pretty sure u would just have to drill another pilot hole in teh spring perch mount
-
if it was leaf springs that would work. He does not have adjustable control arms so there isnt any adjustment at all
-
oh didnt know it was a tj.
-
and I wish it wasn't lol...leaf springs are so much better

wheres the shop in camden joe?
-
It was Keller Truck but I'm pretty sure they closed up. They would take the driveshaft, run it to their Baltimore location to do the work, then run it back for you. They were next to Scotti Muffler if you want to doublecheck.

went by there today. closed up tighter than a nuns........ uh nevermind

Bill from that Associated branch did my front shaft. He does really good work. I think it's better built than my Tom Woods in the back. -

Too bad as they're pretty much the only 'local' place anymore, Keller's in Elkton has stopped doing 'small' CV shafts as they're 'too hard to balance'
