And I had a ND4 filter on.
1 sec was as long as I could go without over-exposing.
I can see where a ND8 would be helpful to have.

What was your aperture set at?
Could increase it to f16 to f22 and drop ISO as low as possible.

I think I'd been more worried about a gust toppling it into the creek! I hang my camera bag under my tripod in the same way...it has a hook there just for weights

I think the chunk of steel weighs around 8lb.
