Also need pads and rotors if you have recommendations for those too. Thanks!
I need new wheel bearings for my 99 XJ. Anyone have a brand they rely on? I don't want to buy crappy

For rotors and pads, buy the middle of the line.
And no drilled or slotted. Waste of money.

Timken.
When buying anything with a bearing anything that is built with a Timken, SKF, or Koyo bearing is a good start. IMO

Last time I did my fronts I used Black Magic pads and the rotors they sell. http://www.blackmagicbrakes.com/#3080
They added some braking power. Not just a higher pedal, but it can actually stop a few feet shorter. Seemed worth the added expense, but since my original rotors had 140K on them I don't know that any replacement parts would have done just as well.

x3 for Timken.
For brakes i just usually head for the cheapest brand name
I recognize. Sometimes theres a closeout sale and you can
reshoe the whole truck for less than a set of thr cheap china
knockoffs... -

I guess I'm on the other side of the spectrum. Tires and brakes are the two things that I won't go cheap on. I figure they are the two basic components that can stop you in a pinch and hopefully keep you safe. -

I was reading about there being two different types of rotors and hubs for the 99. It was in this thread:http://www.naxja.org/forum/sho…?p=245269210&postcount=22
My rotor looked like two pieces so I think that means they are composite.
Does that sound right?

Yeah, same thing for the tj's. I have a 99 with 99.5+ hubs. If you are doing hubs and rotors at the same time I believe you can change everything to the 99.5+ but Google that before you take my word for it

Just had my wheel bearings, rotors, and pads done today. The Timken bearings I received from them were 2 separate bearings. 1 was correct for the cast rotors and the other was improperly machined and didn't fit.Really put me in a bind. Now I have to call timken and get my money back for whatever this is they sent me even though the part numberso were the exact same.
I don't think I'll be buying from them again. I now have a timken on the left and a moog on the right lol. Oh well I guess

Sorry to hear that! I took a guess at which one I needed (99 XJ). Flipped a coin and ordered. I was lucky and got the right ones. Must have been the B team on the line that day you ordered lol
