ESJA Land Ride Invite - << Pics >>

  • My family and I had a great time, lots of mud, but some cool trails and great guys and gals.
I didn't take roll so I don't know who was all there, I'm sure some one will post up the details.

trail damage = bent tail pipe and a jeep that sits very un-level and when I pulled out from the park, reached 40 mph I had a crazy death wobble, I stopped to inspect, connected my sway bar and proceeded on without any wobble  drove home smooth.

camping damage = tired, dirty, and a very sore back ;D

  • I had a good time as well. Glenn and I didn't get there until 5'ish on Saturday. We were setting up our tent when the gang rolled in from trail riding. Camping out along with me was James78 and his family, Glenn, and Alex from ESJA. He never got his Jeep back together. It was interesting seeing people wrenching at midnight under the light of many Jeep mounted spot lights. I think at one point they had 2 Dana 30s completely disassembled on numerous roll towels and a ton of tools laying all around the grass.

Here's a pic of Glenn "Git'n it" in the flex area. I think this was right before he told us "Slow and easy..." You can see how distorted and blurry the pic is that his approach was anything but "Slow and easy..."

Actually, he had to go a bit faster than the rest of us because of his long wheel base getting him high centered in the tight hills.

I suffered a little damage. We didn't get a pic of it but there was a spot in the flex area that I came close to laying the Jeep over on its side. At least is felt like that! Glenn jumped up on my side for counter weight and I went forward (couldn't go back). Then hit a dead tree which crunched my driver side fender. It's fiberglass so it's repairable.

The burgers and dogs were awesome and I have them along with Captain's cooler and the rolls at my house. How do I get them back down to you Captain? I'm not sure I have enough freezer space. I might have to start drinking the beer in my garage fridge so I can turn the temp down enough to freeze it all.

There wasn't supposed to be any left how much is left? We went through one box of burgers the first day.

  • There's probably about 20 dogs and 20 burgers left I guess. Maybe a bag and a half of hot dog rolls and the same amount of hamburger rolls?

If someone has a freezer maybe they can store them and bring them to the spring fling.

  • I really enjoyed my time down there. It took me about two hours to get from Newark to the Food Lion. The folks from ESJA were very nice and they have done a ton of work to the land they have. Alex was telling me that they have a bunch more space and have big plans. Hopefully we get invited back and we can have more people come out and enjoy.

This is how I started the day...

They call this kid scooter he is one of the craziest people I have ever seen. On the first major obstacle he almost launched his Mom from the passenger seat. Here you see him getting friendly with a tree.

Just before this guy went down in this hole he says "famous last words of a red neck watch this ya'll" He was close to rolling it here but eventually pulled back and went up another side.

It was after lunch that we came upon this hole I'm not sure what they call it but I'm sure it's something clever BUT I saw 2 jeeps get stuck and 2 go over. I decided that I needed to get my feet wet at some point. So if it breaks it'll just have to get fixed. I went up over the first hill and started slide left and I hit the gas dumped the clutch and kept in it until I came up the other side. They tell me that I had the front axle in the air you can see that the tires are spinning even after I came up out of that hole.

This is what the other side of that hole looks like. When I hit the bottom of that first hill it jar'd my internals and stung a little bit.

This is how I ended the day...

Today (Sunday) I spent 5 hours scrubbing and washing and scrubbing and washing the Jeep including one trip to the local self car wash by the time I was done the floor, walls and me were covered in mud but the Jeep wasn't. ;D

It was called "Jeep Eater", I guess that we proved them wrong :o
