The truckers will make fun of it, but it works fine a Jeep.
Plus easy to store away if you park with top down.

LOL. Yes they will but as Keith said, it works great in a Jeep. I would recommend an external speaker though. It helps a lot with this particular model.

X2
Pretty much mandatory.
had it in my first jeep...+3 on the speaker part. was a nice radio for what i used it for. I have a similar setup now but with the midland version. i like it a little better cause i can take it out and clip a battery on it and keep in touch while scouting a path.
I've got the midland as well and it's worked well on the trail. Never really tried over distance.

with my 4 foot tuned antenna i get 3-5 miles. with the rubber ducky antenna on batteries i get 1-2 miles. good enough for trail rides, and convoys.
I like the idea of something small like that. We all know that space in a Jeep is pretty limited so that would be pretty nice. I have a Uniden Pro 510xl. It's a pretty compact unit and gets good distance with a properly tuned antenna. My brother and I can chat over the CBs from our driveways and he's about 3 miles away as the crow flies. Not too shabby considering everything that's in between our houses and him living next to Iron Hill (not sure how much that affects the signal though).
+4 on the external speaker. I got mine from Radio Shack for $10 and it's amazingly loud.
I agree with what has been mentioned. Very small footprint, enough features for the average user, and very portable. By portable, I mean that I have two of the controller boxes. One controller is in the TJ and one is in the XJ - I just drag the handset from vehicle to vehicle without having to mount a huge case in either one.
I have this one.. Midland with Weather as well .. Its very small and the speaker is quite usable and its half the price..
Midland 1001LWX 40 Channel Mobile CB with ANL, RF Gain, PA, and Weather Scan
