What have you done to your Jeep today?

  • Ran it through the DMV... failed for tire width. heehee, not much of a suprise, 35s and no flares up front. Was told no more than 3" sticking out. I'm close to 5 or 6ish on the drivers side. I'll try to attach the stock flares and maybe adjust the trackbar a hair. Oddly, they didn't question the lights on the bumper (same level as the headlights) or the bumper height (at the limit for truck height!).

Gone- 2012 JK Rubicon with stuff. Long gone- Long-arm 2001 Cherokee with stuff.

  • couple weeks ago installed the Rubicon JK wheels i got from a DEJA member, and went black walls out :innocent:

  • replaced the bushings in my KOR trackbar with super-hard bushings. while the trackbar was out, i drilled and tapped it and installed grease fittings.

the old bushings were in REALLY bad shape. i didn't realize just how bad until i took them out. holy crap!

the new bushings appear to have cured my increasingly frequent death-wobble. YAY!

  • sat Astape and i changed the pinon bearings in the 8.25 it was mainly Astape. it sounds like a Cherokee again not a wrangler. found a tooth from the old chewed up spider in the oil passage. only bad things is now i can hear other noise i did not hear before.

  • Since I had wrestled the top on mine for the last rainy trailride and since it's sitting outside while I finish getting another project out of my garage I took a little time to paint my hard doors and throw them on there. Went old-school CJ style with the paint scheme and think it looks pretty nice:

  • Opened up the front diff, replaced the driver side front hub bearing, cleaned up diff, buttoned her back up and filled. That's 2 things off list of 10 (and growing) I have to do while taking some time off over the next couple months.

Oh, and I did something I'm really really ashamed of. I...I don't know how to say this...I Armor-All'd the dash. It shines. Weird. :) I actually vacuumed and washed it as well. Did a half ass automatic wash cleaning after Big Dogs in September and then took it out to RC a few weeks ago. Power washed it and got it looking nice (as nice as it can).

I had to vacuum it because there was half a bag of potato chips from Big Dogs in the back that were playing a game of Asteroids. Started out as a bunch of big chips and gradually starting working there was to a million tiny pieces all over the place. The little alien ship that always kicks your ass never came through but I don't know if I made it to that level yet.

  • leveled out the front end a bit... installed some 2" spacers (thanks Keith) and took out the factory isolators and OME isolators...

I think that the OME springs are only pushing 1.5" of lift, cause there is no way that I have 2.5" springs, 2" spacers and 1.25" body lift...
either way it works... I put in some bumpstops on the bottom of the spring pad in the front also... PITA

oh and when I thought I was done... last step, bolt on track bar... the bolt stripped out!
replaced it with a bigger bolt that fits way better, possibly the cause of my shimmy... we'll see.

  • first time posting pic so hope this works. this box was hand made with 100 lbs rails and 1/2 wood top and bottom if anyone wants one for them self just let me know. for something this size its about $250 it only took the guy a day to make and i did the carpit myself. which only took like a hour or so.
