Any tips/guidance for him? Thanks.Should not have to , depends on space. . tell your "friend" to replace both at the same time and call it a day. Also a generic O2 sensors are much cheaper. Just need to do an extra step on the connector. While replacing them have the battery disconnected, this will clear the code and you should be good. A deep socket impact wrench will help on removal.

Should not have to , depends on space. .Which is it, Steve? Should not have to or depends on space?

Right , that's correct.

on a tj it is much eaiser to remove the pan. if i were going to do it i would pull it. they make a special socket for o2 sensors and a recomend getting it. it allows room for the wiring. lots of pb and possibly a small torch for removal. use an antisieze when installing new one.

Thanx......will pass this info along 2 my "friend."

Looked at Jen's last night as I was under there reinstalling the rear d/s and IMHO I'd throw a wrench on it and try it real quick before pulling the skid...if it looks like it'll be a fight then drop it. If you don't have a o2 socket just cut the lead at the end of the sensor and don't worry about the wiring (FWIW if using a generic sensor you'll need to splice the plug from the old one so don't toss it). If you end up needing to use a socket though you'll likely have to cut down the sensor body to get even a 'normal' longwall socket on it.

Thanks Ian!

I always just do them when the pipe is still hot from running rather than trying to get a torch in there.

I didn't have to remove the skid when I did mine, should be fine but expect to curse a lot trying to get it loose
