YJ Lift

  • OK here it goes 91 4 inch lift and sye done. Problem-feels like I am riding on a rough road, not really a vibration but it is very noticiable. This does it with the front drive shaft out and the rear in and it does it when the front is in and the rear is out. Stops when not in gear however there is no vibration in shift or transfer case shifter. Suggestions please?

  • When you say it stops when not in gear, do you mean that when you're driving down the road and put it in neutral the vibration stops? Does the vibration get worse at higher speeds or when going up a hill?

  • If not completely in gear I'd say it had to do with the pilot bearing, input shaft, clutch, pressure plate, or front bearing of the tranny. Those are the only things I can think of that would directly relate to the clutch engagement that are NOT related to the drive shafts/differentials being hooked up.

  • Since you put the sye in in that may be a good place to start. It sounds like either the tcase or clutch.

  • Do an experiment, pull the rear shaft , drive it in 4WD so its basically front wheel drive. If the vibrations stop. could be your drive shaft/angles. Did you install a CV shaft when you did your SYE?
