Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for a short wheeling trip in or around Vegas. I have to be there for a week in March for training and wondered if there was anything available. I'm staying on the strip but training is in the desert. Just thought I would try to do something besides the obvious while I'm there. Anyone have any ideas or experience with that area? btw, it would be in a rental SUV so it would'nt be too extreme .
Any short wheeling trips/trails near Vegas?

take the hwy out of vegas to hoover dam. once you cross the dam, you're in arizona. there are mini trails right off the highway and they are marked with signs. i did this on a business trip in 2011. i rented a 2 door jk. i think it was like 45 min to the dam from the strip. the dam was pretty cool, and right on the otherside, you get into canyon land, desert, and rocks. the stock jk did fine, and i wasnt worried about messing it up

Johnson valley where the koh race is held is about 2hr away. I highly recomend it, but see if you can find a guide. Also look up the Hump and Bump event, its held usually the weekend after sema. Its pretty close but i cant remember the name of the town its in. The wheeling there is good even for an suv and i think is open blm land.
Looked it up. Longmont, NV.

It's not wheeling, but hiking... Red Rock Canyon was a great day trip to get away from all the mess of the strip. There is even a Capriotti's to hit up on the way if you wanted to grab a "Bobbie" for lunch.

Good idea. Maybe i could show them my DE license and get a free sandwich. Red rock sounds like a good trip. I will check it out

Training is in march so hopefully the weather wont be too bad.

Ooh when you going?? I'll be there the 8th - 13th and will have some free time! I have convention Mon - Wed. Average temp out there then is 69

I believe mine's the same week, hopefully nothing goes sideways between now and then. the temp should make it nice out there.
