Sooo...
I'm on the lookout for a decommissioned large propane tank and another about 1/4 the size. Basically, I want to make a wood fired smoker. Let me know if anyone see something.
Looking for a 150 lb Propane tank

Do you have plans you're building from? I've been thinking of making one out of a Jeep front clip.

This sounds fun. Put it on a trailer axle so you can really take it places.
-
I have some general plans and idea of how it should be built. I'll just need to make it at someone's house with a welder. I don't think a jeep front would make a good cooker dup to the thin metal, complexity of sealing..maybe a grill?
Idk about the trailer portion of it. It's a good idea but I was just planning on making it stationary?

I didn't think a smoker was sealed any different than a grille. I thought you just needed a way to control the heat and smoke flow. Figured that could be done with louvers or something.

Might give Suburban a call.

Scratch that. After getting some sizing dimensions I think a 150lb tank will due just fine. I'm going to try and run by the salvage yards when I have some time. On average, pork ribs are under 25" long and pork shoulders, briskets, and other hunks of meat aren't going to be 14"+ tall.
150lbs = 84"x 25" @ 315lbs
250lbs = 94"x 30" @ 480lbs -
Sending you a text... due to uh, reasons.....
