I was just thinking about this on 2 hour ride.
What movies or tv shows can you think of where a character drove a Jeep?
-Tomb Raider 2,
-Sahara.
-Lana in Smallville drives a Liberty.
-Daisy Duke had a CJ.
I know theres an old sitcom from the 80s or something where somebody drove a Wrangler, but I cant think of it right now.
What else?

In the movie
"The Thomas Crown Affair" there is a seen with a jeep
it is a Yj but it has dual axles in the rear ... 6 wheels 
Mork and Mindy. I think she drove a red YJ.
Terminater: Sara Conner drove a red CJ or YJ I think.

You shouldn't include war stuff because it is so obvious. There was a Clint Eastwood movie where he was a Texas or Arizone aheriff and sent to NYC to collect a prisoner. In the beginning of the movie he drove a CJ6 with a rifle mount on the outside of the cowl area. It was pretty cool.
You may have to narrow your criteria some. The 2 vehicles that you'll find in almost every movie is a VW Bug and a Jeep.
You may have to restrict it to tying a jeep to a main character.
In Sahara, they did their best to make that poor TJ look like it was really old!

The mother from Gilmore Girls is often seen driving a Jeep, pretty sure its a TJ but I don't remember. (My wife watches it all the time)

My wife piped in as I was reading this with another show that I think it horrible. Piper from Charmed drives Cherokee, she's not sure of what type tho.
