  • Had a BDS 4.5" lift, Tom Woods DS, SYE, 4.56 gears, and new tires put on last week. Going in for a 1" body lift and putting on Xenon Flat flares on Friday (major rubbing right now). Skids after that. Here's what she looks like...............

  • saw the flares on a jeep today (seanmac's) they will definitely give me enough. Probably don't even need the body lift.....but I'll get it anyway ;D

  • its grown alot since the last time i saw it.

  • Have you done anything yourself or take it to the shop for everything?

Not trying to pee in your cornflakes, but flat fenders/flares do not add clearance to your wheel well. It is just an alternative and appear to. Where your tire will actually flex up to and hit (without proper bumpstops) will stay the same. Granted to may be hitting those big ol 6" pocket styles, but if you had stocks, the tires would maybe barely hit and they would not get damaged....

Measure your tires to wheel well before and after, it will be the same/very close...

  • I've done some of the more simple bolt on stuff but time is precious to me right now. Basically, I work 60 hours a week doing what I'm good at so I can pay others to do what they are good at. Maybe I'll have more time to work it myself when it's not a daily driver or when the little ones get a little older and Dad's not cool anymore..........

I understand what your saying about wheel well clearance but that's not my problem right now. My problem is that the 6" bushwackers angle downward/inward around the well and that's where i'm rubbing. The xenon flares run pretty much straight out from the bolts that hold them to the fender so they will increase my "fender flare clearance" by 2" give or take a little. Plus they are 6" wide and will provide much better tire coverage than stock.

The 1" body lift I'm getting will increase my tire to wheel well distance. The combination of the 2 should land me in a decent spot I think. Especially since 99% of my offroading is on the beach with a trail thrown in every once in a while.

  • Trust me, I know what you mean. I work about the same, maybe more. I figured you were having the flare issue, just did not think that the coverage was all that important to call for 6" flares. With 33's, I think a BL and a taller flare will make you look kind of goofy (the tires will look too small). Many people who have a 4.5" lift and a 1" BL run 35-37s. That is a great setup for 35s in my opinion.

It does look good. Good luck with it.

  • Looks good Jason, Talk about busy, I still have not had a chance to wash mine and get a few pictures since the Tires and lift. :driving:

  • Thanks guys. Those are 35x13.50's on there now. Hence the reason for 6" flares and the body lift. I was running 33's previously.

  • wow like the tires... how do they ride? anybody else have these how do they wear.... nice tj.... when i comission im going to get an unlimted rubi and spend my money on that...and make the yj a monster

  • they ride really well so far and noise level isn't that bad either. A little expensive but if they wear as well as I read in reviews, it will be worth it.

  • here's updated pics with the 1" body lift and xenon flares...............big difference with clearance.

  • Love the flares... I keep thinking i want to do the xenon's as well. the picture may be deceiving but is that a 1 inch body lift?

  • yeah, its a daystar 1" lift

I'll post some front shots when I get back to my pc, on the phone right now. Coverage is pretty much the same as the 6" bushwackers.

  • wow, that's quite a clearance difference!
