yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Too bad this idiot who wrote the column got something wrong involving it. He said it morphed into the Grand Cherokee which wouldn't make sense since the Grand was in production at the same time as the Cherokee. It did however morph into the IFS Liberty. Duh.

Yeah, because everyone knows how successful the uni-body concept has been in the offroad world...

Hey now They may not swim ( Trust me I know) But they get around RC Pretty Well
It just says changed the world. It never said for the better!
How could they have that list and not include the WWII Jeep which showed the usefullness of a small, lightweight 4wd vehicle for both the military and the civilian. It was so popular that other companies came out with their own versionl (Land Rover and Toyota). If ANYTHING started the sport utility idea it was the flatty AG-Jeep.
that list was full of surprises
I think I remember ('80s were rough, sorry...) that the Grand WAS supposed to be a replacement for the Cherokee at first, but the Cherokee was so popular they sold both together instead. A first-gen Grand isn't that much bigger than an XJ, no more than a typical model refresh. And we all know the Libby IS a Cherokee everywhere else but in the US. Apparently post 9/11 marketers thought "Liberty" was a good idea for Jeep sales.
..and is a Renault Le Car on the list? Damn fine vehicle that one was.
