Thanks
I love night photography and long exposures. Effects that are captured are awesome. Great pics

Yeah. It was fun to get out there and shoot them. Was up there from about 12-5 am. Made for a rough day at work the next day.

An amusing name for a pub here in Corning

Yesterday at Navy Crossing. Heavily compressed to help it fit here...the original pano was 10654 x 4475 :o

Yesterday at the beach. It's a handheld B/W HDR and I shifted a little between the shots hence the blurred edges.

I still don't know what I'm doing and don't own a "real" camera so don't compare it to the others here, but I think these panorama shots from my phone are really cool. It doesn't just stitch a few horizontal shots together like that nameless fruit phone, it will actually do a full 360 view. It's actually a little uneven, I should have taken two more pictures on the left side. Included with Android 4.2, check it out if you have a recent phone (or have hacked it to hell).

The phone camera is the wave of the future, the other night the world news did a special on things that will cease to be made by end of 2014. Point and shoot cameras were high on the list, as well as mitsubishi motors and Volvo....?

Less sold as time moves on yes.
Biggest thing phones lack is a real flash.
They will have to pack a lot of LEDS in there to come close to a gas discharge type.
And while camera pics (including the one Geoff took) look great on a monitor or another phone, how do they print?
Especially larger sizes. Anyone done it?
-
The problem is printing as Keith mentioned...however...printing pictures from a point and shoot is not much better at times and that's just in a 4x6 size. Anything larger can be a grand waste of time and energy from a phone OR a point and shoot.
-
i would add lack of optical zoom to the list. Even a basic digital camera has a 4x optical zoom or more. I'd say people will buy less and less point and shoot cameras but that doesn't mean it's been truly replaced, people will just deal with lesser pics. I have a 5 year old Canon point and shoot in a drawer somewhere I used to bring to trail rides and other things, now I just use my phone although I still can't take comparable pics on it.
Too lazy to google and link to it but the Samsung Galaxy point and shoot is kind of interesting to me. It's a legit (in my far from professional opinion) camera that runs Android and has wifi or a data plan, touchscreen and all the bells/whistles.
