I purchased an aftermarket plug n play trailer wiring harness for my 04 Wrangler. The instructions state to plug it inline with the passenger side tail light assembly. However, I was not able to find the plug on the passenger side. I looked on the drivers side and found what I was looking for. After plugging it in line not all of the functions work properly when the trailer is hooked up. The trailer is wired up properly. Obviously I must be doing something wrong. Is there somewhere else I can look for the passenger side factory harness to plug into? Any assistance is appreciated.
04 Wragler Trailer Wiring Harness Issues

Not sure if its the issue, but you may need and electronic flasher module for under the dash.
-
which functions are not working properly.

Steve,
I did think of that and did upgrade the flasher under the dash with an LED one. I also did an LED upgrade to pretty much everything on the Jeep (except the headlights). Those are still a bit salty and will have to be worked into the budget. After I swapped out the Flasher Module I tried it all again with the same result. -
If memory serves, the left blinker on the trailer, only one brake light comes on the trailer, and I think only one of the rear trailer lights come on when the hazards are on.

Been awhile since I added one of the harnesses to a TJ but did you attach the ground? A bad trailer ground will cause all kinds of like funkiness.

It has to go on the passenger side. You may have to take the inner wheel well out to find it.
Mine was above the canister on that side with a wire smashed between the canister mount and the body.
Trust me it is there.

you need to get a circuit test light and check if you are getiing the signal at the jeep plug. the brake light and the turn signal work through the same wire. chances are either because of where you tapped it in that part of the harness may not get the signal from the jeep harness that controls the light that is not working or the bulb on your trailer is out.

Later model years have the plug on the drivers side.

Pretty sure there is no difference between the 03 I have and his 04.

I did partially remove the inner wheel wheel on the passenger side and didn't see anything. Captain, not sure if I understand what you mean by the "canister". Aaron, I did take a test light and check functionality. My guess is that the wire harness may need to be relocated to the passengers side. All lights on the trailer are LED. I hooked up the trailer to my service truck to be sure it wasn't the trailer and all trailer functions work properly when hooked up to my service truck. The trailer wire harness I bought is specific of the 03-06 Model Year TJ. It does say to plug the harness inline with the passengers side vehicle wire harness. When I didn't see anything on the passengers side, I checked the drivers side and it was right there. Figured maybe for the 04's it was different. I'm thinking I may be wrong.

This is the canister my harness was above before I corrected the location.
And this is the harness you are looking for. -
Thanks Captain! I'll do some digging and see if I come up with the same thing.
-
that's where mine was on my 03. pass side near the canister.
-
X4 on the above.
It's probably wrapped in black tape.
-
Same connectors, different pin outs.
-
that's strange, i have an 03 TJ and my plug was on driverside under the wheel well liner on the driver side just under the driver side brake light, put it in a couple weeks ago
