I just clocked my jeep to see what kind of fuel mileage I was getting. It was better than I thought but still worse than my 1/2 ton pick up.
What kind of mileage are you getting?
My last tank was 14mpg.

Tell that to the guys who have run out of fuel on the trail. I won't point fingers cuz someday it will happen to me. Right Aaron?

Don't know or care. It probably is 14-16mpg but the fun factor is much higher.
Jeeps get lousy gas mileage, the vertical grill and windshield are horrible for aerodynamics, plus with the tall suspension, you get more wind drag from the undercarriage than you'd see from a car or truck. 2012 JK, 3.6L motor, 5spd auto, 3.73 gears. Stock (with 32x10" mud tires), I got around 13mpg on my 3.5 mile commute to work, and 18-20 on long highway trips. Lifted 2.5", I didn't really see a change. Went to a 1" taller tire (33x10") and still really didn't see a noticeable difference, maybe 1mpg less on the highway. Currently, I have 315/70/17s and the difference is noticeable, sadly. Down to 11-12 on my work commute and 15-17 on highways. Dropped my towing mileage from 15-17mpg down to 13-15mpg, too.
I saw 23mpg once, but that was babying it home from Dover with a max speed of 55mpg.
you have to keep in mind that larger tires and not changing the speedo gear will leave you with deflated gas mileage. the best way to check is to use GPS and your odometer on a long trip and comparing the difference. My TJ is about 9/8 difference.
The last time i checked it was 13 mpg by the odo, 15.75 mpg in reality.
