Jeeps for Joy Benefit Run Pic Post

  • First of all I want to thank everyone who helped out today. I think for the first year it went off without a hitch. I'll post pictures probably monday, since I've been up since 3:45 am. I did want to let everyone know that we had 110 vehicles register for the event and between the raffles and RC's kick back we raised a total of $2093. Not to mention that the greatest part is that my truck is FULL of toys. We collected 165 toys also. The weather was great and everyone was very complimentary of the entire event.

I'll post a different thread later for suggestions for next year as I would like to hear everyone elses opinions of what to and what not to change.

Again a BIG thank you to all who pitched in and helped pull today off.

    I'm going to bed now.

  • I had a lot of fun, and an awesome time.

BTW -- does anyone have a picture of that bumper that was raffled off. I liked the design of that thing.

    I'll post some still's later..

  • Brian, I already told you, but a HUGE THANKS to you, and Nichole, for all of your organization on this event. It really went great for the first time doing it! Very organized, and it all went smoothly I thought. We got a LOT of toy donations, which is just awesome. It's a huge boost for our total donations this year. Nichole and Patti (and the girls) did a fantastic job with handling the raffles and money. Chris Hall did a great job of directing people as they entered (until his 45 minute potty break :-\ )

All in all, it was a great day. Had a blast on the riding and did some cool blue and black trails with the guidance of Chris and Chuck, thanks guys!

I didn't take too many pics, but I got a few good ones, and I'll post them up here probably tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone that came out, brought a toy (or two) and supported the event. Hope everyone had a great time today.

  • I was a picture slacker today. My buddy Rob will have some sent to me tomorow though. If anyone has video of my front end in the air over frog hill, I'd like to see it.

just got in now, we had a fantastic day. Thanks to everyone involved. Hooter's on the ride home was the icing on the cake! Gabriel loves that place, who am I...

  • Kudos to you guys for putting together a fantastic event. I had a great time, my new-to-me jeep exceeded my expectations by far, and even though I sunk the whole thing, I still had a blast.

I'll have some pictures & videos up as soon as I get my Jeep fixed. You'll have to wait until Ken's first off-road magazine DVD comes out to see videos of me swamping my XJ (and the aftermath) though ;)

    Thanks!

  • Absolutely amazing day! Big thanks to Brian & Nicole, Paul, Lynn, all of the trail guides and everyone that came out today! What a huge success!

  • Had a great time. Everything (aside from Dave's rear axle) seemed be a huge
    success.

Felippe decided not to give us a show this time, but I came close on boot hill in
    the South territory.

Joo that bumper was from AJ's Offroad. Give him a call. I know I might. I really loved that design. I dumped about $50 in that bucket and still didn't get it.

It would be nice to help out our sponsors anyway. I know if he got a few sales from it he'd definately do it again next year.

  • Thank you to everyone that participated and helped. Thank you all for the generous donations.

We could not have done it without you.

  • Thanks guys very much.. I had a lot of fun. This was my first run and I was very impressed with it all. (special thanks to the trail guides/spotters - Wolverine and BlueJ) I did a lot of scraping but made through with out any damage. It really is amazing how capable a stock Jeep is...

Its in my blood now, so I will be seeing for sure on the next run.... :spinrhead:

Thanks again to all of you...(and thanks to Omaha for the show)

Here are my pics from the event.

I tried finding it on his website, but all he has in a bunch of XJ stuff.

If you find it, let me know. Im curiouse how much.

  • On behalf of DeJA I'd like to say thanks to all that helped make this event such an overwhelming success.

And thanks to all those that came out to ride, including those from other clubs.

I'm looking forward to the Toyrun itself on Dec. 9th.

    Few more HERE

  • I had a good time....for the ½ day I actually WHEELED!

I went into a small rocky hole. I just krept along and something hit me hard enough to stop me. A slight turn of the steering wheel and I crawled out with no problems. Then Omaha steam coming from the radiator and I shut her down. The best we can figure is that a rock had to have popped up which is what stopped my momentum. Apparently, 1 of the fan blades hit that rock, got tweaked, and hit the inside of edge of the radiator as it went around. The torque of the motor twisted that blade to hell and forced it into the radiator.

I think I can fix the fan blade. It's a special fan that a friend of mine had customized once to remove the clutch part.

Previoiusly though, we were on the rocky section of Yellow Jacket and my passenger rear tire fell into a hole. This made my driver side front tire rise up about 5 feet! I thought I was going to roll over backwards! It got Michael's attention! :o :o :o
