He noticed the brim of his hat began to unnaturally flatten and felt an incessant need to refer to everyone as 'brah'...just a guess.

And be sure not to take any of the stickers or tags off that hat so it looks like you just stole it from Lids!
I pushed the remote start button early this AM and then prayed for better weather to arrive for St. Patrick's day!

Just didn't like it. Not my style. It's for sale. Brackets and light bar $500
I finally got the correct bearing and finished building my Dana 20.

That is interesting. I am trying to head in the direction of a t-18. I had a turbo 400/Dana 20 behind a Pontiac 400 in my first CJ2A, I think the driveshaft was about 8". Broke the rear pinion and bell housing doing a burnout over a large hump in the road. Who needs limiting straps anyway? If you have any leads on a t-18 please let me know.

No T-18 but I got a SM465 that needs some love.

That does look like it could use some love! I know it's a good tranny but that thing is a beast! I'm trying to keep some length in that rear shaft. I'm also going to change out the rear for a ford 9". Have you got any of them laying around?

Thanks Jeepman, I appreciate the lead. I've read that a T-18 from a jeep truck can have oddball gears which are next to impossible to find. With the typical luck I have with these things, I'm not going to risk it. I already went to West Virginia to check one out that a buddy had and I had to pass on that one for the same reason. My plan is to gather some parts this year and next winter tear into it, to be together again by spring.
The T18 from a Jeep truck will also have a much longer input shaft. But they can have the granny low 1rst gear. My brother had one

New article on rebuilding the T18: http://www.fourwheeler.com/jp-magazine/
Thanks for the input. Here's the article I was talking about from Novak's site.
Ford vs. Jeep T18's The Ford T18's are clearly the best conversion choices in that they are far more standardized, easier to find and often more affordable. Replacement parts (namely, gears and shafts) for the Ford T18 are easily less expensive. Many, if not most, of the Jeep specific gears are no longer produced, making them painfully problematic to own if anything ever goes wrong or if parts interchangeability is required for a specific, non-standard adaptation.
Probably won't need new gears though. When a friend and I rebuilt mine the gears were fine.

Got my heap up on Luke's lift to chase down a pretty bad tapping/knocking coming from bell housing/trans area. After ruling out the clutch and transfer case Luke welded up a socket to an old clutch so we could spin the trans at a decent rpm and sure enough it is the source of the noise. Looks like I'll be buying a reman 3550.....
